My small size booth: Jewelry Fair 2011

One of the things I really enjoy about joining a shopping fair in Second Life is the booth design. I always try to come up with something unique and themed to distinguish my booth from others.

Last year’s Beauty and the Beast theme had me working with light and dark colours to create a theme of duality. This year’s Jewelry Fair theme is Elements; I’m on the Fire sim, a wonderfully gloomy burnt out lava castle look.

I’ve departed from my usual bright, cheery colour scheme and incorporated the decayed, burnt theme for my booth. The wallpaper is burnt and peeling. The jewellery is displayed in shadow boxes with an antique frame.

You can shop for earrings, necklaces, and bracelets in select colours at my booth. There’s also a little silver jewellery box containing a free gift for you!

alaskametro at Elements: Jewelry Fair 2011!

I’m very excited and proud to be a part of the Elements: Jewelry Fair 2011 in support of OXFAM. alaskametro<3 will have a small booth on the Fire sim, where you’ll be able to find revised and revamped jewellery… the best of the OPIUM stock from years ago, that many new avatars never had the opportunity to own.

I’ve been retexturing everything and refining prim work on some of my favourite pieces from Second Life days gone by. I hope you’ll enjoy wearing it as much as I enjoy making it!

For the bloggers, I’ve put out a gift box with 4 pieces total… you’ll get samples of the “Drop” flexi thread earrings, “Lyvia” pearl strands, the “Zipper Rosette” necklace, and the popular “Lynda” crystal chandelier earrings. Don’t forget that bloggers are invited to enter a Jewelry Fair contest, too!

Garden City Relief – shop for a great cause!

As I’m sure you all know, a devastating earthquake hit Christchurch NZ for the second time in 6 months, this time causing much more damage and loss of life. Shelly Toonie and other Second Lifers with big hearts have organized Garden City Relief, a project where 100% of your shopping Lindens go to earthquake relief in New Zealand.

The event runs from February 26th to March 5 at the Copley Square sim. There’s something for everyone, from fashion to home decor to landscaping to gadgets, and for a great cause!

Happy Halloween!

I had a great time in First Life yesterday at a nightclub event, dancing away to my favourite gothic music with my boy. I dressed as Siouxsie, as you could probably guess from my previous post!

Siouxsie from Siouxsie and the Banshees is a punk/gothic icon. When I was younger, the Banshees were my favourite band (yes, I was always a bit spooky.) She’s known for her eccentric fashion style that incorporates fetish/BDSM, punk, gothic, and Asian influences, and her trademark black spiked hair and Egyptian eye makeup.

Why Siouxsie? Well, this is my Halloween costume for First Life. I’ll be sure to post some photos of my costume in both SL and RL tomorrow so you can see how well I managed to pull it off!

The “Siouxsie” makeup is only available tomorrow, October 31, 2010 at the Second Style Island landing point. It looks best with skin bases by alaskametro<3 since it was designed for them – but you can always try it over other skins to see if it works! Some shape adjustment is probably required due to the heavy makeup and Siouxsie’s distinctive eyebrows and lip shape.

YOUR TRICK: ONE skin base will be L$1 tomorrow, for Halloween only (L$900 value.) Which hair colour and skintone will it be? You’ll just have to find out for yourself… good luck!
