alaskametro at the For Aeva/Heartsick fundraiser

I’ll be participating in the For Aeva/Heartsick fundraiser. This 2-week event raises money for Amesha Jewell, long-time talented SL creator, who is facing financial difficulties due to RL illness.

I’ve created limited edition versions of the “Alexa” metallic ballet flat in 3 pretty Spring colours. These colours will only be available during the event, and priced at L$100 (with 75% going to Amesha.)

I’ve also put out the “Cyber” necklace, an older piece I still like, with bright shiny plastic shards. L$100 during this event (regular price: L$200,) with 75% of the proceeds going to Amesha.

I decided to shop and put together an outfit using fashion from the fundraiser! I wanted to highlight my pieces, but show how they can be incorporated in a more subdued casual look, despite the vibrant colour palette.

I was inspired by the fresh, spring colours of new leaves and blue skies filled with puffy clouds.

Aeva skins come with a myriad of options, including eyebrow-less. They’re perfect to wear with my eyebrow sets (or those from other creators), allowing you to match any hair colour. They’re natural and fresh-faced, allowing you to layer on makeup as needed. I adore the pouty lips and gorgeous shading on this skin.

[Context] offers mesh clothing with a HUD that allows you to customize your outfit’s colour scheme. This minidress, Zane, offers 8 possible combinations. I like to think of this as a mood ring for dresses… today I was feeling pale grey and pastel green.

I love blue. For accessories, I paired the limited edition Aquamarine “Alexa” flats with the “Cyber” necklace in Pearl, then remembered that I picked up an affordable little blue purse on the Marketplace a while ago.

FIX: Updated permissions on “Milla” and “Laara” dresses

If you’ve previously purchased the “Milla” off-the-shoulder lace dress, or the “Laara” sequin minidress, check the skirt permissions. Due to a bug, some people aren’t able to modify the skirt prims, though they are set to enable modify permissions. I’ve updated the versions for sale in store and on the Marketplace. If you’ve got an older version with incorrect permissions, please email me (AlaskaMetropolitan@gmail.com) with your Marketplace transaction information and I’ll drop a new copy on you.

“Laara” is still available in Poinsettia red and Evergreen for FREE in world until January 1, 2013! <3

Now open: my NEW in-world store!

I might’ve been quiet lately, but that doesn’t mean I haven’t been busy! I’ve been building an in-world store, after years of only selling on the Marketplace. While I’m not fully set up, you can visit the main store (now open!) at Lionheart Kiara (18,200,28).

Second Life’s changing economy means land is available to rent at a lot less than a few years ago. That’s the primary reason I’ve decided to build an in-world store. I also really like setting up store/vendor areas and seeing all my stuff in a space I designed. Lastly, I figured some people simply dislike shopping on the Marketplace, so it’s good to give them another option to buy alaskametro<3 stuff.

Play the vending machine gatcha (now L$10) for a randomly-generated earring or bracelet set

I still haven’t finished the accessories wall, but you can get your jewelry fix by playing the L$10 gatcha for “Rhayne” earrings and bracelets.

Lots of nail polish colours available!

The back section of the store includes all beauty by alaskametro<3 skins, eyebrows, and makeups. Demos are available for the skins & eyebrows; for testing the makeup, there’s a free colour tester for most makeups!

All lipsticks can be purchased individually… and include a copy of the lipstick tube object. There’s a lot of testers available, make sure to try one for other creators’ skins!

Make sure to pick up your holiday gifts on the table!

For now until January 1, 2013, there are 6 gifts for you waiting at the in-world store. I’ve got the “Laara” sequin dress in both “Poinsettia” (red) and “Evergreen” (green), shimmer nail polish in Ruby and Emerald, and “Alexa” metallic ballet flats in Ruby and Emerald. Announcement #1: my skin line has been updated!

What’s changed:

Minor tweaks to nose area for better shadows with atmospheric shaders enabled
Minor tweaks to mouth area shading
NEW Asian/rounder eyeshape version (sold separately)

Announcement #2: I’m permanently dropping the price on all skins!

My eyebrow tattoo layers are very popular, so I’ve updated eyebrow sets to a total of four styles each. They also now include the coverup layer for other creators’ skins (previously a separate freebie.)

The Direct Delivery on Marketplace is way better for merchants than the Magic Box system. I haven’t had a non-delivered item yet since the switch. Magic Boxes had (for me at least) a 5% or more failure rate – that’s a lot of manual redeliveries to customers!

But not everyone is using the latest SL viewer. A lot of people are still using 1.0, even, or a third party viewer that lacks the Marketplace update. This means they simply never get a delivery; they have no Received Items folder at all!

Also, some customers prefer to shop in-world and don’t like the Marketplace at all.

For all these reasons I’m considering opening an in-world boutique again. Something half the size of my Second Style mainstore is feasible for me. Please vote below on this idea, because I’d like to know how you prefer to shop for fashion products in Second Life!

I’m also considering revising my best-selling nailpolishes to use prims in addition to texture layers, to give customers more options. (The price would go up a bit, but the nailpolish would include both prims and gloves/tattoos.) Is this something you’re interested in?
